Investment Strategies

  • US Capital Appreciation – The objective of this strategy is capital appreciation by investing in US listed companies. Peter Lynch’s methods as described in One Up on Wall Street are employed. Portfolio consists of a combination of fast growers, stalwarts, cyclicals, asset plays, slow growers and turnarounds. Special situations (tenders, spinoffs) are also considered.

  • Japan Capital Appreciation: The objective of this strategy is capital appreciation by investing in Japan listed companies. Diversified portfolio with 30-40 positions in Japanese equities that meet the following criteria: profitable and growing businesses with reasonable profitability through the cycle, attractively valued on an absolute basis, net cash or modest levels of debt on the balance sheet, pay an attractive or growing dividend.

  • Halal Investing: The objective of this strategy is capital appreciation by investing in Shariah compliant US listed companies. This strategy is similar to the US Capital Appreciation strategy except the investment universe is limited to companies that pass the Shariah compliance filters. For more details, please see the description of Halal Investing. Halal Investing is not restricted to Muslims. Investors with specific values/beliefs/guidelines can opt for this strategy.
